White Ant is just another name for a Termite.

White ants are not the same as general ants and the treatment is very different.

Termites/white ants are highly destructive pests that left undetected can cause major structural damage to your home and because installing a barrier can prevent termite attack, even the best insurance company does not cover termite damage.

General ants are mostly annoying but can also cause some damage to your home, some species of ants also give a very painful bite. A general pest control treatment will help with eradicating ants inside your home however with some species this cannot be guaranteed, a specialised misting treatment to all vegetation and the external areas of your home is the only sure way to get rid of ant colonies. So why are termites called white ants? There are different names for different stages in their development but essentially termite colonies are made up of Queens, Kings, Workers, Soldiers and Alates.

A termite colony is largely made up of Workers and they can be white or light brown in colour, which is why they are often called white ants. There are many different species of termites/white ants and we identify them by the shape of the Soldiers, which are predominately light brown in colour with a darker brown head.

Termite/White Ant Workers (white in colour) & Soldiers

Termites are quite sensitive creatures, they have a thin body and need a moist, protected environment to survive and thrive which is why they can go undetected for years causing thousands of $$$ of structural damage. They form their nests in trees, mounds and under the ground, they will also create sub-colonies in your home or building.

Depending on the species of termite a Queen can live up to 25 years and produce between 1000 and 3000 eggs a day.

We found a nest and cracked it open in search of the Queen….this is a small colony of only about a few million termites!!

A complete termite solution is essential when it comes to dealing with termites.

It can be pretty scary coming across them in your home and the temptation may be to grab a can of fly spray or douse them with petrol, but this will only makes the situation worse. It may kill a hundred termites but the colony will then just break off the lead and move to another area of your home causing more damage.

The chemical and bait we use is scientifically proven to have a transfer effect which meanst the termites take to back down to the nest, which is how we gain full colony elimination.

If you find active termites call us and we will come out to your home on the same day.
