Ants
Ants are the tiniest and most annoying of all the pests, their behavior can be seemingly unpredictable and a sea of
ants usually follows the presence of a single ant in your home. There are over 3000 species of ants in Australia,
the most common in SE Qld is the Coastal Brown Ant, Black House Ant, Green Ant, and Carpenter Ant. Depending on the
species they can be quite destructive and in the case of the Green Ant (found in the garden) come with a very painful
bite.
With the dry weather ants will often come into your home in search of water, when there is a substantial amount of
rain Ants will often come inside in search of the dry. They are always in search of their preferred food source and
are a complete nuisance as they can be found on the floor, bench tops, ovens, windows, skirting’s, balconies, footpaths,
driveways, letterboxes….just about everywhere.
Ants infestations, especially in the kitchen area can be quite difficult to treat with over the counter products and
their numbers can build quite rapidly so both early treatment and taking preventative measures are essential.
Different ants are attracted to different foods and we can break them up into two food groups know as
protein ants or
sugar ants. It is important we identify the type of ant in order to apply the right treatment, they can be extremely
difficult to completely eradicate and a combined effort is needed to massive reduce an infestation. Our technicians
will treat the roof void and cavity walls as well as protein or sugar attractants in high traffic areas plus apply
a chemical to the 1 meter outside perimeter of your home.
